Founded in 2018 by married couple Lotte Welten (CEO) and Joeri Everaers (COO), and joined by Jordi Wippert (CTO), The Selection Lab is an Amsterdam-based developer of assessment technology to screen applicants. The innovative platform uses AI and video technology for recruitment, focusing on objective data and inclusion. In 2023, the company raised €1.25M in a round led by Borski Fund.
Founded in 2022 by David de Jong and Minck Hermans, VonWood is modernising the timber trade by connecting buyers and sellers directly through its innovative online trading platform, making processes smarter and more sustainable. The platform enhances efficiency, reduces costs, improves transparency, simplifies transactions, optimizes logistics, and offers better financing options. In 2023, VonWood raised €2.7M to boost its growth.
Founded in 2020 in Amsterdam by Johan van Vulpen, Jan van der Veen, and Simen Schimmel, Transferz streamlines ground transportation for businesses and travellers. It offers booking, scheduling, tracking, and payment across various transport options, emphasising convenience, reliability, and affordability. The company employs over 100 people with international offices, and in 2023 raised €6.5 million to further develop its innovative services.
Based in Groningen and founded in 2013 by ex-band members Tijmen Ruizendaal, Gijs Bekenkamp, Bas de Haas, and Dion ten Heggeler, Chordify is a search engine that turns music into chords for guitar learners to play along. The platform uses AI to analyse audio, transforming it into chords and beats. The technology behind it involves feeding the AI with spectrograms of songs, which it learns to translate into chords and rhythm, making music learning accessible and straightforward.
Founded in 2020 in Delft by quantum engineer Alessandro Bruno and TU Delft graduate Matthijs Rijlaarsdam, QuantWare provides quantum processors that enable organisations to build quantum computers more quickly and efficiently. The company focuses on enhancing the scalability of superconducting QPUs, aiming to accelerate the usefulness of quantum computers, democratise hardware, and expand the field. In 2023, QuantWare raised €6M to support its growth.
Based in Gorinchem and established in 2021 by Arvin Esterabadi, Ferhat Topuz, and Jingwei Ren, Valyuu is a Circular Economy Marketplace specialising in pre-owned consumer electronics. Its platform aims to extend product lifespans and reduce waste by facilitating seamless transactions and donations, ensuring every product is recirculated among consumers, refurbishers, and recyclers through matching and pricing algorithms. In 2023, the company raised €2.4M to support its growth.
Aquablu, founded in 2016 by Marnix Stokvis and Marc van Zuylen and based in Amsterdam, develops smart water dispensers to replace bottled water and canned beverages with a plastic-free solution. The company’s advanced purification technology removes up to 99% of impurities from tap water while enhancing it with essential minerals and flavour options. Its unique filtration technology led Aquablu to being awarded the CBRE Innovation Award in 2023.
Founded in 2019 by former TU Delft students Marsha Goei, Marco van der Woude, Thomas van der Pas, Daan Alkemade, Thomas Oomens, Philip van den Heuvel, and Joris van Doorninck, Breeze is a dating app that connects users to horeca venues for offline dates. Its technology streamlines the process of organizing quick, safe real-world meetings, reducing the need for prolonged online chatting. After a successful pitch on the Dutch version of Dragon’s Den in 2021, Breeze raised €1.3M in 2022 and expanded to Belgium in 2023.
Founded in 2018 by Nico Broersen and based in Amsterdam, Agriplace is an independent platform for digital supply chain data that streamlines responsible sourcing for food wholesalers and retailers across Europe. It offers a network for seamless sharing of compliance and impact data, reducing redundant work for suppliers. Active in over 100 countries, Agriplace aims to create safe, socially responsible, and sustainable supply chains.
