Good research doesn’t automatically become a company. Until recently, there was no single, ongoing view of how well the Dutch system actually converts academic research into spin-outs compared to international peers. Without that, it’s hard to tell where the system isn’t working - or make an evidence-based case for fixing it. New Dutch startup formation has been declining, adding urgency to understanding the pipeline further upstream than the verticals or ASC reach.
